What will my stay really cost, and which offer is cheaper?
Enter your dates, guests and the figures from two offers to see the amount due for each — accommodation, mandatory fees, taxes shown separately, minus any discount — per night and per guest, with a refundable deposit kept apart. It counts only what you enter: it does not check availability or work out any tax.
How we calculate
- Nights = check-out date − check-in date, counted in calendar days, or the number of nights you enter.
- Accommodation = nightly rate × nights, or the total for the stay if the offer gives one.
- Mandatory fees = one-off fees + per-night fees × nights + per-guest-per-night fees × guests × nights.
- Amount due = accommodation + mandatory fees + taxes shown separately − discount. A refundable deposit is shown on its own line and is not part of it.
- Amount due with optional extras = amount due + the optional extras you tick, on a separate line.
- Per night = amount due ÷ nights; per guest per night = amount due ÷ (nights × guests).
- Difference = amount due for B − amount due for A; as a percentage, of the lower of the two.
- Amounts are added in whole pence and rounded to the penny only when shown. A discount larger than the rest of the bill is treated as an input error.

What this does not include
- Availability on your dates.
- The cost of cancelling and the risk of a non-refundable booking.
- Exchange rates and card fees.
- Price changes after you enter the figures.
- Transport to the places you plan to visit.
- Meals.
- Any tax you do not enter: the calculator does not work out VAT, a tourist tax or any other tax.
